The mission of the Female Services Subcommittee is to facilitate the provision of appropriate resources for girls and young women in Pennsylvania’s juvenile justice system by promoting a gender-responsive service model through:
• Research and development of exemplary gender responsive programs
• Collaboration and cooperation of key system stakeholders
• Advocacy of effective public policy relating to girls and young women in the juvenile justice system
• Training and professional development
• Public awareness
• Evaluation
The Female Services Subcommittee’s goals identify a model direction based on research, values and ideals.
- Goal #1: Identify the existing state of services for juvenile court-involved girls and young women in Pennsylvania.
- Goal #2: Obtain and disseminate the best available information on juvenile court-involved girls and young women.
- Goal #3: Develop a Pennsylvania specific model of gender-responsive policies and practices to address the needs of juvenile court-involved girls and young women.
- Goal #4: Promote the implementation of gender-responsive policies and practices for juvenile court-involved girls and young women.
- Goal #5: Measure performance, assess progress, evaluate programs, and report outcomes.
